Welcome to Dual Credit U.S. History (History 112)
Course Overview

This course explores the social, political, economic, and cultural history of the United States from the end of the Civil War in 1865 to the present day. It is designed for high school seniors earning college credit, emphasizing critical thinking, primary source analysis, and historical interpretation. Students will engage with a variety of historical texts, scholarly articles, and multimedia sources to develop a nuanced understanding of the United States' development and its role in global history.

 

Course Credit

Student who earn a C or better will earn elective credit toward a high school diploma and three credit hours of college level history credit. Students who earn lower than a C in this course risk being placed on academic probation in the City College of Chicago. Students on academic probation may be ineligible for financial aid through FAFSA.

Grading Structure

Students are responsible for their success in the course. 

  • Absences/Tardies: If students are absent-- even if those absences are excused-- they are still required to make up the work they missed. Students will lose participation points every day they are late to class. 

  • Missed Work: All graded assignments are available twenty-four hours a day on Google Classroom. Missing assignments must be turned in no later than 2 days before the test assessing those skills in order to receive partial credit. 

  • Grade Tracking: Students are responsible for tracking their own grades and may do so through their student portals. Parents may also monitor their students' progress through parent portal
